As I mentioned on Talk:European integration#Meta: Lots of European integration articles, there are lots of articles on European integration. Notably for this article, there already exists Enhanced cooperation and, especially, Multi-speed Europe. Why was this article created? Are its contents really different from those of those two pages and others, or is simply creating *another* European integration-related article? XA1dUXvugi (talk) 17:16, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

European Integration is a very broad subject with many academics studying how it functions. Wikipedia severely lacks articles on European Integration. Differentiated integration is a concept much larger than Enhanced cooperation and Multi-speed Europe. Each of these articles are distinct and describes something specific: Enhanced cooperation is legal procedure in the EU treaties, Multi-speed Europe is one of many types of Differentiated integration mechanisms. You are correct that each of these articles are all related to European Integration, but each absolutely have their place as distinct articles. I would go even further in saying that there may also need to be a distinct article for Variable-Geometry and À La Carte DI. Furthermore, on the subject of European Integration, the Neofunctionalism and Liberal intergovernmentalism also need some work.

My overall point is that Wikipedia lacks a lot of information on European Integration; I am confident that any EU Politics academic would agree. The Differentiated integration article absolutely has its place as a distinct article in my opinion. James Tamim 17:58, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank for this in-depth answer! I believe I see your point now. Perhaps, the overlapping appearance and difficulty comprehending the differences is more a result of EU bureaucracy than of the articles themselves. Since, for example Council of the European Union and European Council are both great articles on two EU organs, that the EU decided to name basically the same thing...
