I am proposing that only the sections in ISO/IEC 11179 that are related to naming be merged into this article. A possible exception might be the text relating to database table names, which might move to Relational database instead.

What does ISO 11179 have to do with data element names? Data element (aka column name, attribute, tuple? & others) was what we called data back in the days of punch cards & ISAM files. 11179, while a nice idea, is a very late comer to the game & has had minimal impact to date. The article says "Tables are Collections of Entities, and follow Collection naming guidelines", seemingly paraphrasing some part of ISO 11179. However, I am not sure where this is described in any part of the document. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.186.244.238 (talk) 20:04, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
