Microsoft released another free beta version called "Acryl" after giving away Expression 3 as Freeware, before it was released as Expression Studio. (Usage is limited only Oct 31, 2005, so it's basically unusable unless you change the date of your computer to an earlier date, which is of course illegal and violates the license. )

While Expression 3.3 Preview is packed with outstanding vector capabilities, it's bitmap capabilities is rather limited. Acrylic is basically Expression 3.3 PLUS a well featured bitmap editing environment in one. The User can edit bitmap and vector on the same environment. Acrylic also comes with a powerful image stitching tools, and is probably the same technology behinds Microsoft's photosynth/

Expression/Acrylic has unique features are still not present even with the top of the line graphic tools as of 2012.

Creature House Expression now has its own entry.

Please include more info about skeletal stroke, I can't work out anything from the article.

Creature House Expression was a ground-breaking application. Its skeletal brushstrokes were later imitated by other applications (Inkscape is already mentioned in the article, Xara Xtreme is another example). The technology lives on in Microsoft Expression, but I believe the original version continues to deserve its own entry.
