Classes of computation

I propose to remove this section. What do you think?--Powo 15:55, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's OK but it's really just TYPES OF COMPUTERS/COMPUTING Graham Cooper BInfTech — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.17.94.76 (talk) 22:53, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Other computations

I have improved (I hope) the physical and mathematical descriptions of computations. Should there be another section? Like computations performed by humans?...--Powo 15:55, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

ATTENTION PLEASE! Can someone upload the picture at http://www.flickr.com/photos/29237020@N05/5215859771/ it is a new MOLECULAR MODEL OF COMPUTATION. It has been verified by sci.math. It uses HALF the fetch cycle of a Turing Machine and is directly equivalent to a Turing Machine. Graham Cooper BInfTech

History

Looks off base. How about deleting the section? (I know it's good to bbold, but nevertheless) 212.188.109.98 (talk) 13:38, 27 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Comparision to Calculation

I'm not convinced with this section. According to the Oxford Dictionary of Mathematics the word calculate means "To work out the value of a mathematical or arithmetical procedure, or the output of an *algorithm". In the same dictionary computation means "A calculation" and definition under compute is simply "= CALCULATE". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yoga Conflagration (talkcontribs) 00:21, 6 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Closed?

Is a computer really a "closed" physical system? Mine requires external power... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdcdnaeifkd (talkcontribs) 23:33, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

That's obviously not what is meant here. The external power is not an input to the computation. Pinkbeast (talk) 15:58, 3 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
There's no 'obviously' in this domain: an ultrafinitist might judge it to be a fundamental failure of the failure to account for power consumption/cooling. But this objection is marginal and would be UNDUE at this level of detail. — Charles Stewart (talk) 11:43, 21 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

OR

I tweaked some misformatting on the OR template, which has been updated since it was first placed. It is not clear to me what the OR issues are supposed to be or what has to be done to improve them. Could someone explain who knows the article better? — Charles Stewart (talk) 11:47, 21 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
