Champ aint dead... I hear him at night up there in the woods near the spring. bet he's makin whisky again.

In line with the above statement it should probably be noted that folklore local to the Cumberland Plateau of Middle TN indicates that Champ survived the gallows and lived on in the area from whence he came.

I'll look up the documentation on this and contribute when I can. If you are able to do so before I can, please feel free to do so.

My name is DeWayne Carter, I am 16 and i live in Georgia. I have been working on a family history project for school for the past few weeks. My grandfather and I recently discovered that Champ Ferguson is my great great great great great uncle. I have the family tree and other sources as a reference. I just wanted to see if you could tell me anymore about him.

Amazon has a couple of books about Champ. I've read one & just ordered the other. Thurman Sensing repeated the rumor about his escape. The Union calvary stabled their mounts in the Chapel of the Methodist Church in Sparta so he had a lot of friends here. Corruption ran rampant and he was a successful guerrilla, so he could have bought out. I have requested the inclusion of reliable verification that supports the article content that says Ferguson himself had claimed to killing over 100 people. I have researched this to no avail and find that it directly contradicts the statements Ferguson gave, after his conviction, to the Nashville Dispatch which were published in The New York Times where he admitted to killing at least ten people.--John Cline (talk) 14:39, 22 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
