Merge pre-installed software
Pre-installed software should be merged back into this article. It was split from this article some time ago, but neither article has grown to such an extent that need to be separate. Bundled software is more general than pre-installed software. (e.g. bundled with a video card or printer) Most of the issues with pre-installed software also apply to bundled software. It would make a better article to combine the two (at least until it grows so large that a split is needed). Zodon (talk) 23:08, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose. They seem to be talking about completely different things. One is about products licensed to OEMs and the other about an act of one author publishing product suites such as Starcraft Battlechest and Nero. They neither have similarity of text nor similarity of context. But you are more than welcome to try and persuade me. Fleet Command (talk) 09:52, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
"Note" the bundled software page no longer exists, therefore the merge notice should be removed from the pre-installed software page.97.75.161.222 (talk) 20:18, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
Redirect
I've redirected this to Pre-installed software, which seems more appropriate than Product bundling. The latter is in need of some work, and is apparently more of a law/business article than a computing one. I've done a few other related edits too, but am sure to have missed things. - Thank you, both for your redirection and your notice in Wikiproject Software. However, I just discovered the presence of software suite, an article with similar context. Therefore, I acted bold and converted this page into disambiguation page. If you think it was not a good idea, feel free to respond here as I will be monitoring this topic. Seems an improvement, thanks. Of course none of these articles have a historical context. Obvious one would be the historic IBM cases of the 1960s. See History of IBM#1969: Antitrust, the Unbundling of software and services. W Nowicki (talk) 17:36, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
