Talk:Breit–Wheeler process

WP article quote: "in July 2021 evidence consistent with the process was reported by the STAR detector one of the four experiments at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider although it was unclear if it was due to massless photons or massive virtual photons, vacuum birefringence was also studied obtaining evidence enough to claim the first known observation of the process [21]" last paragraph of this WP article.

Actually the authors of [21] state inside their article https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.127.052302#fulltext :

"...we present the first measurement of the unique cos4Δϕ modulation predicted for the Breit-Wheeler photon-photon fusion process to definitively demonstrate that the interacting photons behave as real photons with transverse linear polarization."

So, the authors claim clearly evidence of normal (i.e. non-massive) photons instead of virtual massive photons inside their paper [21].

This has of course to be verified independently but I recommend editing the last paragraph of the WP article. 147.95.130.109 (talk) 08:44, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Correction to my previous comment, the reference bracket is not [21] but [20]. 147.95.130.109 (talk) 08:47, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
