History
I'm not sure how relevant much of this section actually is, because it's describing 'ism' as a noun, rather than the suffix '-ism'. Given that this Wikipedia article is explicitly about the latter, and that they're also differentiated in dictionaries (e.g. the OED), it just seems very off topic and of dubious relevance. Moreover, there aren't even any actual citations and given sources for the claims made, which also makes it more dubious.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.143.220.89 (talk) 16:09, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
Grand Narrative/Eisenhower
Discussion on the following two lines
> The concept of an -ism may resemble that of a grand narrative.
> Skeptics of any given -isms can quote the dictum attributed to Eisenhower: "All -isms are wasms".
I moved them from the introductory paragraph to the history already. However, they feel weirdly/poorly worded, or potentially irrelevant for a wikipedia article. LittleShostyBoy (talk) 04:35, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
