The Shell Technology Center Houston (STCH) is a research and technology centre operated by Shell in Houston, Texas, United States. Located in western Houston, it is the largest of Shell's three principal global technology hubs, alongside the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Shell Technology Centre Bangalore in India.[1]
The centre developed from Shell's earlier research facilities in Houston. The Bellaire Technology Center, opened in 1936, focused primarily on exploration and production research, while the Westhollow Technology Center, opened in 1975, housed research in refining and chemicals. In 2008 Shell announced that the Bellaire activities would be consolidated with an expanded Westhollow site.[2] Following the expansion and modernization, the site was relaunched as the Shell Technology Center Houston in 2013.[3]
