Pityohyphantes, commonly known as hammock spiders, is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1929.[2] The name comes from the Ancient GreekΠίτυς (pitys), meaning "pine", and hyphantes, meaning "weaver".[3]
