Niño Muhlach (born Angelo Jose Rocha Muhlach, October 27, 1971) is a Filipino actor. He is the father of Filipino child actor Alonzo Muhlach.
Early life
Niño was born by Alexander Muhlach and Rebecca Rocha, he has five siblings. A nephew of Amalia Fuentes and Álvaro Muhlach, his cousins Aga and Arlene are also actors. He was the owner of D'Wonder Films, which produced most of his films in the 1970s/80s. He was dubbed the "Child Wonder of the Philippines" for making films that garnered both critical and commercial success. He holds the title of highest-paid child actor in the history of Filipino cinema.
He is currently owner of Megamelt Bakeshop, home of Muhlach Ensaymada located at Nicanor Domingo Street corner Mayor Ignacio Santos Díaz Street in the Cubao District of Quezon City. Megamelt started in 1993, when the Muhlach patriarch, Alexander Muhlach opened an Ensaïmadacommissary upon N. Domingo Street, Cubao lot be purchased for Muhlach. Muhlach Ensaymada is managed by Angela Muhlach-Hortaleza.[2]
Personal life
He was married to Edith Millare from 2000–2005, they have one child, Alessandro Martinno Millare Muhlach (born on 2003). [3]He has a second child, with Diane Tupaz. He is of Spanish-German-Chinese descent.[4][5] His son with Diane Tupaz,[6]Alonzo Muhlach, is also an actor. His daughter Angela Kristine Muhlach, married to Alfonso Hortaleza welcomed their son Alexander Ron.[7]
Muhlach sold one of his 5 FAMAS Award Best Child Performer trophies to Boss Toyo for P500,000. He also bestowed upon Toyo some of the theater lobby cards.[8]
Legal issue
On August 1, 2024, Sandro filed an administrative complaint with GMA Network's management against its independent contractors, Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz. The case is anchored on sexual abuse after the July 20 GMA Gala 2024 at the Manila Marriot Hotel. Because of Sandro's requested confidentiality, the Network said it will only publish the details after conclusion of the investigation.[9] Earlier, Muhlach, Diane Abby Tupaz and Angela Kristine, in Facebook cryptic statements accused the suspects and demanded justice for Sandro.[10]
