The result of the move request was: moved. Admin: Please double check the subpages associated with this page to ensure nothing else needs to be moved, otherwise it looks like this should be fairly straightforward. (closed by non-admin page mover) ASUKITE 17:42, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
Module:Language → Module:Wikt-lang – This module has a very misleading name. It is solely used to create Wiktionary links with a language anchor, and should not be confused with Module:Lang which is used for most other language related usages. This move will match the template name at Template:Wikt-lang. Gonnym (talk) 12:31, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
Currently using the template without a text value produces a Lua error - Lua error in Module:Wikt-lang at line 131: bad argument #1 to 'get_best_script' (string expected, got nil). This should be more gracefully handled like the error in line 248. Gonnym (talk) 12:14, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

The currently set name for the Ilocano language, with language code ilo, is "Iloko" which does not match up with Wiktionary's preferred name for the language, Ilocano. For instance, ilo links to wikt: something #Iloko, when it should instead link to wikt: something #Ilocano.
The following should be added to the data table variable in Module:Wikt-lang/data:
Special:Diff/1280064448#Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas discusses a prominent politician's use of a term in regional vernacular that is unfamiliar to most of her constituents, wherein I added Wikt-lang to add a link to its definition on Wiktionary.
wikt: Special:Diff/84203784 reverts my apparently improper attempt on Wikt's side to make the link created by this template work. —Luisanton (talk) 09:41, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

Add alg-pro for Proto-Algonquian. This is the code already used on Wiktionary, consisting of the prefix pro- for protolanguages plus the ISO 639-2 code alg for Algonquian. Hundreds of words and thousands of place names in American English derive from Algonquian languages, which in secondhand literature and on Wikipedia are often lumped together as "Algonquian" when the precise source language is either unknowable or unspecified due to laziness/confusion; Proto-Algonquian reconstructions are therefore mentioned fairly often and have enormous potential to increase as Wikipedia's etymology sections improve in quality.
Note that many other uncontroversial reconstructed languages are missing; the current set of codes for protolanguages represents exclusively a handful of European branches of Indo-European, plus Proto-Indo-European, and Proto-Semitic. This clear bias towards European traditional philology is not a good look for Wikipedia and should change in the near future.
(I guess) the following should be added to the data table variable in Module:Wikt-lang/data:

This ugly edit make me think it would be nice to add template support for wiktionary senseid. Something like:
-> minutes "fractions of a degree"
Interwiki links are more fragile than intrawiki links, so perhaps there was a conscious decision not to support this; OTOH I still managed to make my ugly edit, which is even more fragile still. jnestorius(talk) 13:16, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
foo and foo work was expected when using the apostrophes, but foo and foo do not work when using strong and em templates. Directly using the html tags fares no better: foo and foo. Would be nice if the bold/italics stripping also worked on these.
