Martin Javier is a Filipino sportscaster, television host, and news presenter. He is best known as a lead anchor for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on GMA Network and GTV, as well as the host of the In the Game segment on the flagship evening newscast 24 Oras.[1]

Early life and education

Javier grew up in the Philippines, influenced in part by his father, who worked as a television commercial producer. He attended the University of the Philippines Diliman, where he studied Mass Communication.[1] During his junior year, he auditioned for a video jockey (VJ) talent search, which ignited his interest in broadcasting. Though he did not win, he went on to work as a student DJ and graduated from the university cum laude.[1]

Before transitioning into full-time sports broadcasting, Javier worked in the advertising industry, managing social media campaigns for various commercial brands, while occasionally hosting live corporate events and appearing in television advertisements.[1]

Career

Javier began his professional sportscasting career with ABS-CBN Sports, where he served as a courtside reporter, host, and analyst. From 2017 to 2020, he covered collegiate leagues, the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL), and hosted sports lifestyle programs such as Upfront and the nightly sports news show The Score on ABS-CBN Sports and Action (S+A).

Following the closure of ABS-CBN's sports division in 2020, Javier was signed by GMA Synergy (the sports division of GMA Network) in 2021.[1] He was paired with co-host Sophia Senoron to spearhead the network's coverage of NCAA Season 96, marking the league's historic transition to its new broadcast partner.[2]

In 2022, he officially signed as a talent under GMA's talent management arm, Sparkle GMA Artist Center.[2]

On August 7, 2023, Javier debuted as a segment anchor on GMA's principal nightly newscast, 24 Oras, originally hosting the Game Changer segment.[3] The segment was subsequently rebranded as In the Game, shifting to a highly interactive format where he highlights Filipino athletes and sporting events.[4]
