Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited is a public limited company promoted by the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, India.[2] and was incorporated under the Companies Act.

On 5 January 2018 the Department of Higher and Technical Education (H & TE), Government of Maharashtra (GOM) issued a Government Resolution, as per which, in place of H & TE Department, the General Administration Department (GAD) has become the Representative Department of GOM for matters concerning MKCL.

Operations

Company has its registered office and operations & Development center at ICC Pune. It has offices in India and in its subsidiaries MKCL Arabia. The present MD (Managing Director) of MKCL is Ms. Veena Kamath. Over 5,000 Authorized Learning Centers registered in Maharashtra. MKCL's endeavour in the field of IT education is marked by courses like MS-CIT (Maharashtra State Certificate in Information Technology), MS-ACIT and many other vocational courses affiliated to YCMOU under the brand KLiC (Knowledge Lit Careers), MKCL ERA (eLearning Revolution for All)[3] etc.

In India

MKCL Arabia Office

MKCL has established and is establishing Joint Venture companies with the various State Governments by investing MKCL’s funds towards 30% of the initial equity. The Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL) and the Haryana Knowledge Corporation Limited (HKCL) are such collaborative endeavours.[4][5]

Abroad

MKCL has also created joint ventures abroad through its subsidiary viz. MKCL International FZE, Sharjah, UAE. MKCL Arabia Ltd. (in Saudi Arabia along with its branch in Egypt) and MKCL Lanka Ltd. (in Sri Lanka) are the existing Joint Ventures.

Courses

MS-CIT

MS-CIT (Maharashtra State Certificate in Information Technology) is a widely recognized IT literacy course launched by the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) in 2001. Designed to enhance digital skills, the program has enrolled over 1.5 crore learners, offering eLearning modules, hands-on practice, and certified guidance through a vast network of over 5,000 Authorized Learning Centers across Maharashtra.

The course is tailored for diverse groups, including students, housewives, and senior citizens, with a special focus on bridging the digital divide in rural areas. It has also empowered visually impaired individuals to pursue technology-driven careers. MS-CIT remains a cornerstone of digital literacy in Maharashtra, fostering inclusivity and preparing learners for the digital age.

KLiC Courses

KLiC (Knowledge Lit Careers), by Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), offers career-oriented certificate courses to enhance employability skills. With over 32 courses across sectors like Programming, Digital Arts, and Management, it equips learners for service sector jobs.

Courses range from 60 to 120 hours, with certifications from Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) for longer programs. Learners can access training online or through Authorized Learning Centers, with hands-on experience and placement assistance. KLiC bridges academic learning and professional careers, empowering individuals to "Work Locally, Earn Globally."
