Background and release
The song was written by John Denver[4] and was released as a single in September 1984.[5] The song was featured on Denver's 1984 greatest hits album John Denver's Greatest Hits, Volume 3 and on Vartan's 1984 studio album Des heures de désir (meaning "Hours of Desire"), the album being titled after one of its earlier singles, a French adaption of Agnetha Fältskog's 1983 hit Wrap Your Arms Around Me that failed to chart.[6] The song became a hit in the US and Canada that fall.[7][8] Denver would re-record the song twice solo, first for his 1986 studio album One World and his penultimate studio album of the same name in 1996.
