History
The brand was founded by American singer Katy Perry on February 16, 2017, when she partnered with Global Brands Group. The idea for Katy Perry Collections came from Perry's passion for creativity and self-expression. Known for her eclectic and eye-catching style, Perry wanted to create a brand that reflected her personality while being accessible to a broad audience. Some inspirations for founding it are Perry's Dalmatian-print pair of flats that she thrifted and her refusal to wear uncomfortable pumps.[1]
Perry bought back the line in 2022 after the holding company filed for bankruptcy in 2021. Perry is currently the sole owner.[2]Afterwards, Perry relaunched the brand with the Summer/Spring 2022 Collection in the same year.[3] She followed it by launching a collection called the Fall/Winter Part 2.[4]
