Huayana District is one of the nineteen districts of the Andahuaylas Province in Peru.^[1]

Geography

One of the highest peaks of the district is Qucha Urqu at approximately 4,200 m (13,800 ft). Other mountains are listed below:^[2]

• Puma Pukyu
• Qillqata Urqu
• Sach'a P'ukru
• Silla Q'asa

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (86.11%) learnt to speak in childhood, 13.67% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).^[3]
