At the time of the 2006 National Census, the rural district's population (as a part of the former Poldasht District of Maku County) was 6,578 in 1,445 households.[6] There were 7,268 inhabitants in 1,857 households at the following census of 2011,[7] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Poldasht County. The rural district was transferred to the new Aras District.[4] The 2016 census measured the population of the rural district as 6,854 in 1,911 households. The most populous of its 27 villages was Shahrak-e Aras, with 1,888 people.[2]
