Upwind Security, or Upwind, is an Israeli-American cloud security company founded in 2022 and headquartered in San Francisco, California[1] with other office locations in Israel, the United Kingdom, and Iceland.[2] Upwind is led by its co-founder Amiram Shachar.[3] The company positions its product as a runtime-powered Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) for enterprises to monitor and secure their cloud-native applications.[4]
History
Upwind was founded in 2022 by former Spot.io founder Amiram Shachar and former Spot.io employees Lavi Ferdman, Tal Zuri, and Liran Polak.[3]
In 2024, the company experienced an over 4,000% revenue growth year over year according to Frost & Sullivan.[5] On December 2, 2024, Upwind closed a US$100 million Series A funding round led by Craft Ventures at a $900 million valuation.[6][7]
On January 26, 2026, Upwind announced a $250 million Series B funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, reporting a $1.5 billion valuation and achieving unicorn status.[3][8]
Products and services
Upwind describes its offering as a "runtime-powered CNAPP," which integrates "vulnerability management, CSPM, DSPM, container security, CWPP, CDR, API security and identity security" into one platform.[4] The platform claims to use an eBPF-based sensor to provide real-time visibility into "workloads, configurations and applications." [9]
Recognition
In 2025, Upwind was included in Gartner's 2025 Market Guide for CNAPP and was listed in three of the firm's Hype Cycles.[10] In the same year, Frost & Sullivan named Upwind as its Company of the Year in the Cloud-Native Application Detection & Response (CNADR) market.[10]
