Teejay (singer)

Timoy Janeyo Jones (born October 3, 1994), known professionally as Teejay or Uptop Boss, is a Jamaican dancehall artist and songwriter. He is best known for his 2023 viral hit single "Drift," which led to a major label recording contract with Warner Records. [1]

Early life Timoy Jones was born and raised in the Glendevon community of Montego Bay, Jamaica. He began showing an interest in music at a young age, recording his first song at age six and gaining local attention at age 14 with the song "Schoolaz Antem." [2]

Career Teejay gained significant national recognition in Jamaica following his 2015 performance at Reggae Sumfest. In 2018, he moved to Kingston and signed with Romeich Entertainment, releasing hits such as "Uptop Boss" and "Braff" with Ding Dong. [3] In 2023, his single "Drift" became a global viral sensation on TikTok, accumulating millions of views and international airplay. This success resulted in him signing a lead artist deal with Warner Records in June 2023. [1] In February 2024, he released his debut EP, I Am Chippy, which was executive produced by Shaggy. [4]

Around 2023, The beef between TeeJay and Byron Messia started is because of a leaked close friend IG story from Byron Messia saying "2 people wah me to go SDM dis weekend sum fest and TeeJay hating a b" TeeJay later posted a screenshot of Byron Messia texting him in 2018 being a fan and asking for a collaboration and TeeJay called Byron a pig and a sell out, later TeeJay released a diss song called Warning, later Byron Messia responded to Teejay called Collision, and later TeeJay released his response to Byron Messia called Unwanted Child

Valiant

Around 2024, The beef TeeJay and Valiant started is because TeeJay called out DJ Mac who produced TeeJay global song Drift and saying that Mac was trying to swindle panda who is the actual producer of the song. Later Valiant dropped a song called Beer and Salt and one line said Mac Dem a link cause Dem cyan find a hit song, Later TeeJay released a Disstrack aimed at Valiant called Chapter 1 juggling over the Drumline Riddim, later Valiant released his response to TeeJay called Timoya which is a mocking name of TeeJay real name Timoy, Later TeeJay released his response called Chapter 2 which he juggling over the Red Bull and Guinness Riddim, later Valiant released Lippy which is a mocking name of TeeJay nickname Chippy, later of 2025 TeeJay, Valiant and DJ Mac had ended the beef
