Solink is a technology company that provides a cloud-based video security and data analytics software platform.

The company offers real-time access to video security alongside integrated business intelligence tools, with products including a cloud video management system (VMS), verified alarms, artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics. Solink serves customers across multiple industries including retail, restaurants, financial services, hospitality, manufacturing and logistics, and property management.

Solink was co-founded in 2009 by Mike Matta, the current Chief Executive Officer. Mike Matta brought experience from both the technology and security sectors, having previously worked with Bell Canada and Salesforce. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

The company has completed three major funding rounds. In January 2019, Solink raised CAD $16.3 million in Series A funding.^[1] The round was led by Valor Equity Partners, with participation from existing investors Generation Ventures, ScaleUp Ventures, and BDC IT Venture Fund. In June 2020, Solink closed a CAD$23 million Series B round led by OMERS Ventures.^[2]

In July 2023, Solink announced the close of a USD$60 million Series C funding round led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Growth Equity division^[3], with participation from existing investors OMERS Ventures and BDC IT Ventures.

As of 2025^[update], Solink reports being deployed in more than 30,000 customer locations worldwide.^[4]

Solink’s technology combines video security with data analytics, artificial intelligence, and integrations with third-party systems. Its core products and features include:

• Cloud Video Management System: Provides centralized video monitoring and management with support for camera hardware.
• Artificial Intelligence Features:
  • Video Search: Enables users to search through video using text-based prompts such as clothing descriptions, vehicles, or objects.
  • Solink Sidekick: An AI assistant that automates routine camera checks and summarizes key events from video footage, such as checking stores are open and closed on time, checking on safety risks in a building, or notifying when employees are not at their post.
• Vision Analytics: This functionality includes people and vehicle tracking, dwell-time analysis, queue management, traffic counting, and people counting.
• Video Alarms and Deterrence: Enables video-based intrusion detection, deterrence and verification using existing cameras, with optional professional monitoring and dispatch.
• Data Integrations: Solink’s open API allows video to be connected with more than 375 native data integrations and business systems such as point-of-sale (POS), access control, labor management, and business intelligence platforms.
• Cloud Storage: Offers continuous cloud backups of video footage, with the option to store long-term archival streams.

The platform is designed to be hardware-agnostic, supporting third-party IP and analog camera models. Solink also provides its own recording device, which enables hybrid local and cloud video storage.

Solink received recognition as part of the 2023 Deloitte Technology Fast 50™ awards program.^[5]

Solink Sidekick AI was given an honorable mention in the Security Info Watch 2024 Reader’s Choice Awards.^[6] Solink was named on the shortlist for the 2024 Innovation Awards at the Retail Technology Show.^[7] In 2024, Solink AI was a finalist for Best Front of House Technology in CSP’s 22nd annual Retailer Choice Best New Products Contest (BNPC).^[8]

Matt Brown, Vice President of Customer Success at Solink, was named in the Ottawa Business Journal and Ottawa Board of Trade’s Forty Under 40 award for his customer success program^[9]
