Safety Issues and Product Recall

In 2025, reports in Australia indicated that some Sigenergy inverters experienced overheating that led to melted AC connectors. The company later coordinated with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to publish a voluntary electrical safety recall of the company’s SigenStor 8 kW, 10 kW, and 12 kW single-phase energy controllers. A recall notice from the ACCC stated that the AC plugs “may overheat and become damaged, posing a risk of fire.” The notice also stated that incidents had occurred but no property damage, injuries, or deaths had been reported.[6]

Sigenergy said the issue affecting some single-phase inverters was linked to incorrect installation practices, stating that engineers who inspected affected sites found the systems had not been installed according to the company’s installation instructions. The company issued firmware updates to limit inverter output and arranged inspections and replacements of affected units through installers as part of a voluntary recall.[7]
