Very unready.
Declined by Hoary 18 months ago. This draft can't even decide whether its subject is "Xdi8" or "Shidinn". Quote 1: saying that "Shidinn" often refers specifically to the established phonology and vocabulary, similar to the concept of absolute geometry in mathematics. Who says this? How is this similar to absolute geometry? Quote 2: It's important to note that "Shidinn" often refers specifically to the established phonology and vocabulary, similar to the concept of absolute geometry in mathematics. Who says that noting this is important? (And is so much repetition necessary?) Quote: grammar is largely missing. Quote: the lack of a finalized grammar. So is it mostly missing, or is it mostly in place? Either way, who describes its state of completion, and where do they say it? Separate references from mere notes. (Notes can use Template:Efn.) |

Xdi8, formerly Xīnyǔ, Xīdīngyǔ, and Xīdǐngyǔ, is a constructed language created by Chinese folk linguist Huáng Quèfēi. Known for its unique one-to-one correspondence between Chinese characters and Shidinn words, the language integrates a constructed script with influences from southwestern Mandarin phonology, although it significantly deviates to establish a regularized sound system.
Shidinn utilizes a character set of 176 graphemes[1], each representing both a semantic component and a phonetic element. The phonetic series is based loosely on southwestern Mandarin[2], but prioritizes creating a more regular sound system over perfect alignment with Chinese pronunciation. This results in a theoretical pronunciation for every Shidinn character.

Shidinn remains an incomplete language. While the phonology and vocabulary are established, grammar is largely missing. Huáng reportedly developed a grammar system, but has lost most of his manuscripts. Subsequent Shidinn texts by Huáng are essentially transliterations of Chinese.
Several Shidinn communities have emerged online[10][11] , with some members attempting to adapt Huáng's phonology to newly created grammar systems. Poetry of all types that have been written in Shidinn have formed a distinct culture for the language.[12] Linguistics have added on to Shidinn by creating many dialects[13], e.g. Common Shidinn, Standard Shidinn, and Shidio-Zhiyuanian. Technology related to Shidinn have also been created, such as fonts and translators. [14]
Due to the lack of a finalized grammar and the obscurity of the language, further research is needed to fully understand Shidinn's capabilities and potential as a constructed language.
