Scayle (stylized as SCAYLE) is a German software company headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, that provides a cloud-based e-commerce platform as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) product to retailers and consumer brands.[1] The platform uses a headless, API-first architecture.[2] Since July 2025, the company has operated as part of Zalando SE.[3]
Scayle originated within About You, a German online fashion retailer founded in 2014 as part of the Otto Group. Beginning in 2017, About You offered its e-commerce infrastructure to third-party retailers under the name "About You Cloud."[4]
In November 2021, About You rebranded the B2B division as Scayle and began marketing it as a standalone product.[1]
In August 2023, the About You Group incorporated the division as Scayle GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary with approximately 300 employees at the time of the spin-off.[5]
In October 2024, Scayle Payments GmbH, a subsidiary founded in 2022, received a payment institution license from the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BAFin).[6]
In November 2024, the company announced it had begun operations in the United States and registered Scayle Inc. in New York.[7] In March 2026, Levi Strauss & Co. announced it would use Scayle to operate levi.com across the U.S., Canada and Europe.[8]
In December 2024, Zalando announced a voluntary public tender offer to acquire 100% of About You Holding SE for approximately EUR 1.13 billion (EUR 6.50 per share).[3] The European Commission approved the transaction in July 2025, and Zalando subsequently acquired 91.45% of About You's share capital.[9] Scayle was integrated alongside Zalando's existing B2B platforms, ZEOS and Tradebyte.[3]
