Draft:Peter Mbati

Peter Mbati is a professor of parasitology from Kenya[1] and the Director of Higher Education Leadership and Management (HELM) programme at Universities South Africa (USAf)[2] in South Africa. He has previously held positions as a Vice Chancellor for Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University[3] and the University of Venda.[4]

Education

Mbati holds a Bachelor of Education Honours (Botany and Zoology); Master of Science (Parasitology), and a Doctor of Philosophy (Parasitology) [5] from Kenyatta University.[2] He also completed post-doctoral training in Molecular Parasitology at Obihiro University in Japan.[2]

Career

Prof. Mbati began his tenure as Vice Chancellor at the University of Venda in 2008 and left the position in 2018.[6] He was appointed as Vice Chancellor of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) in June of 2020[5], moving on from his position as Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor: Academic at Botho University in Gaborone, Botswana.[2]
