Pandoland, was a free-to-play casual adventure role playing game video game released for iOS and Android. It was developed in collaboration between Game Freak and japanese developer Wonderplanet Inc.[1]
The game launched initially in Japan on June 24th, 2024. A global release happened on April 21st, 2025.[2]
The game was discontinued on March 6th, 2026.[3]
In Pandoland the player leads an expedition team that navigates a vast open world and dungeons, you clear a fog after each dungeon is completed that expands your range of exploration. You collect companions and treasures in your adventure that can make your team stronger. The game features a colorful blocky style based on voxel graphics. The game also features microtransactions.[4]
The game lets you interact with another players online, they can share quests with the player and challenge the player's team through a battle in an arena. The player can also invite a friend to their game so they can share information and defeat quests together.[5] [6]
The game had many collaborations with franchises like Ultraman, Megaman and Hatsune Miku [7] [8] [9]
The game was the product of many ideas that Game Freak had for mobile games, but because they didn't have much experience on the platform, they requested the help of Wonderplanet.
According to Tsubasa Matsuzaki, director and art director of Pandoland, the focus of the game was being accesible for anyone to play, and that even if the game has a set of levels for the player to follow, the player should explore the world around. The idea of using voxels for the game graphics came about because Matsuzaki worked in Pokemon Quest, a game that also used voxels, and he wanted to explore the possibilities of this style.[10]
According to Development Department 1 Manager Saito Yuji, his proposal at the start was an RPG with the theme of discovering and sharing. He viewed the game as an approach of a console-like game that's simple and easy to play with one hand.[11]
