According to a 2026 report, the software supports research workflows including literature research, experiment design, code execution and paper writing. The report describes it as local-first and model-agnostic, and states that it includes tools for topic exploration, literature surveys, experiment design, paper writing and integrity review.[1]
The 2026 report stated that Open Science Desktop scored 22.8 in the ResearchClawBench ranking.[1]
