It aims to allow participants regaining control over their time and attention. Launched in 2026, it has spread very quickly to many countries around the world...[1]

OFF February justifies its action based on the growing scientific evidence of the link between the time spent on social media and the surge in mental health problems since the beginning of the 2010s.[3][4]

Overall, for its first edition, OFF February had 60 partner organisations on 4 continents.
The initiative has also received the support from experts and celebrities such as actress Sophie Winkleman, public health expert and Harvard professor Miguel-Ángel Martínez, or the former Spanish Data Protection Agency Director, Mar España.
