NeeDoh is a brand line of stress balls produced by American manufacturer Schylling since 2018.[1] Most of the toys have a filling inside a flexible, elastic outer skin which returns to its original shape after being touched or squeezed. The filling varies by product.
For example, the NeeDoh Nice Cube has a maltose gel filling, whilst the NeeDoh Groovy Blob has a polyvinyl alcohol gel.[2] The gel inside of the stress balls have been advertised as non-toxic by Schylling.
In March of 2025, the nonprofit organization Consumer Reports demanded an investigation into the safety of the NeeDoh Nice Cube. This was after an incident, in which a 7 year old girl followed a social media trend, in which participants froze and then microwaved the NeeDoh Nice Cube to make it more malleable. This is due to the NeeDoh Nice Cubes maltose filling, which varies in ductility in different temperatures. After microwaving the toy, the toy popped, the gel getting onto the child's face, causing burns.[3]
There have been multiple other incidents, including a 8 year old getting chemical burns from the gel inside of the NeeDoh Nice Cube. This has caused cause for concern regarding the safety of the fillings used inside the toys.[2]
