NL Film is a Dutch film and television production company based in Amsterdam-Duivendrecht, Netherlands.[1] Founded in 2001 by producers Alain de Levita and Johan Nijenhuis as Nijenhuis & De Levita Film & TV, the company produces scripted feature films, television drama and youth series.[2]
NL Film later became part of the Endemol/Endemol Shine structure and is now a label within Banijay Benelux.[2][3] Its productions include the crime drama Penoza, the feature film Bankier van het Verzet, and the children’s series De regels van Floor.[4][5][6]
Productions by NL Film have received national and international recognition. Bankier van het Verzet won the Golden Calf for Best Film and five Golden Calf awards in total, while De regels van Floor won an International Emmy Kids Award.[7][6]
Overview
NL Film produces scripted film and television content, including feature films, television drama and youth-oriented series. Its productions are primarily developed for the Dutch market, in collaboration with broadcasters such as AVROTROS, BNNVARA and EO, as well as international streaming platforms.[8][9][10][11]
The company’s work spans genres including crime drama, comedy and literary adaptations, and includes both original productions and adaptations of existing formats.[4] Several of its productions, including Penoza, have been adapted for international markets.[4]
Within Banijay Benelux, NL Film operates as a scripted production label, focusing on drama and film projects, while other labels within the group focus on non-scripted and entertainment formats.[12]
