He attended a government school in his village and later became involved in campaigns relating to school infrastructure and accessibility issues in the region.[1]
Aasim began swimming as a teenager.[1] In 2022, he swam across the Periyar River in Kerala after training under coach Saji Valasseril.[2]
He later competed in national and international para swimming events in the S2 classification.[1] In 2025, he participated in the World Para Swimming Series in Paris and was selected for the World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore.[1]
At the 2026 World Para Swimming Series in Gold Coast, Australia, Aasim was part of the Indian mixed 4×50 metre freestyle relay team that won a gold medal.[3]
According to The New Indian Express, Aasim has participated in campaigns relating to education access and disability awareness in Kerala.[1] Reports stated that he travelled by wheelchair to Thiruvananthapuram as part of a campaign concerning school infrastructure in his village.[1]
In 2024, The Times of India reported that Aasim was shortlisted as a finalist for the 17th International Children's Peace Prize.[4]
