Minecraft China (Traditional Chinese: 我的世界中國) is a localized Chinese edition of the sandbox video game Minecraft developed by Mojang Studios and published by NetEase. Apart of the Minecraft franchise, the game allows users from China to access Minecraft easily.
It was announced in May 2016 and released in September 2017 in China. The edition is free-to-play and had over 700 million registered accounts by September 2023.
The game was announced on 20 May 2016 under the name China Edition (also known as My World), where it was released under a licensing agreement between NetEase and Mojang.[1][2]
The PC edition was released for public testing on 8 August 2017.[3] The iOS version was released on 15 September 2017,[4] and the Android version was released on 12 October 2017.[5] The PC edition is based on the original Java Edition, while the iOS and Android mobile versions are based on the Bedrock Edition. The game was later re-released in 2020 for PC and mobile.[6]
The game had over 100 million users in May 2018, one year after launch.[7] By 2020, the game had over 400 million registered accounts.[8][9] As of September 2023, the game now has over 700 million registered accounts.[10]
