Mike Bellot (born January 4, 1990, in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti) is a Haitian entrepreneur, educator, and university professor who teaches innovation, entrepreneurship, and business. He is the founder of Kaw Academy, an online learning platform in Haitian Creole that provides professional training and educational content for users in Haiti and the Haitian diaspora.[1]

He is also the creator of Solo Bag, a solar-powered backpack equipped with an integrated lighting system, designed to enable students without access to electricity to study at night.[2]

Biography

Early life and education

Mike Bellot was born on January 4, 1990, in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti. He grew up in a family of four children and completed his secondary education at Nouveau Collège du Nord and Institut du Sacré-Cœur.

After high school, he moved to Port-au-Prince and enrolled at Université Quisqueya to study medicine. He left the program during his first year after receiving a scholarship from the Taiwanese government to pursue studies abroad.

He later earned a bachelor's degree in international politics and economics, as well as a graduate certificate in international business from Tamkang University in Taiwan. He also completed advanced studies in community leadership through programs involving Kyung Hee University in South Korea and Ritsumeikan University in Japan.

He is currently pursuing studies in education policy and management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Career

Bellot has taught courses in innovation, entrepreneurship, and business at private universities in Haiti.

He is the inventor of a solar-powered backpack (Solo Bag), designed to help students without access to electricity study at night.[3]

After relocating to the United States, he worked in the banking sector, including a position at Bank of America, before leaving to pursue entrepreneurship full-time.

He later founded Kaw Academy, an online learning platform offering professional training in Haitian Creole, including courses in marketing, project management, entrepreneurship, and digital skills.[1]

Kaw Academy has reached tens of thousands of users and offers free courses in areas such as digital marketing, e-commerce, project management, and IT.[1]

Through Kaw Academy, he has developed a model that combines education and economic participation by facilitating access to professional opportunities.
