Max Schuster (born January 29, 2003), better known as Max Velocity, is an American meteorologist, weather communicator, and YouTuber. He is the founder and host of the Max Velocity – Severe Weather Center YouTube channel, where he provides live coverage and forecasts of severe weather across the United States.
Max Schuster was born on January 29, 2003 in Atkinson, New Hampshire. Schuster developed an interest in meteorology during early childhood while growing up in Atkinson. At age 10, he was accepted into a weather education program at the Blue Hill Observatory in Milton, Massachusetts, becoming its youngest participant. He later moved with his family to Denton County, Texas, where he began producing local weather forecasts online. After graduating from high school early, he enrolled at Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, earning a bachelor's degree in meteorology in 2025.[1]
In 2014, Schuster began posting forecast and weather analysis videos on the Max Velocity – Severe Weather Center YouTube channel, which he started in middle school. He moved to Texas in 2017 and started the Denton County Weather page where he provides North Texas focused forecasts. His live coverage and forecasting during Hurricane Laura in 2020 drew millions of viewers and his audience grew. He then built a larger national audience through coverage of extreme weather events, including the February 2021 North American winter storm, tornado outbreaks, hurricanes and winter storms. His YouTube channel gained over a million subscribers in 2024 and won the Gold Creator Award by the platform.[2][3][4]
