Matty Boyd (full name Matthew Boyd) is an Australian radio announcer, producer, and broadcaster best known for creating and hosting the syndicated music countdown program Hot 30 with Matty. He is a founding member of Switch Brisbane (formerly Brisbane Interactive Radio Group Inc.), a community-based youth-focused broadcasting organization, and continues to produce radio content from Switch FM Maranoa in Queensland.

Career

Early career and Brisbane Interactive Radio Group

Boyd co-founded Brisbane Interactive Radio Group Inc. (BIRGI) in 1998 alongside Tim Casey, Andrew Stephens, Steven McVeigh, Jon Mustchin, and Cass Myles. In its early years, BIRGI was granted a series of temporary radio broadcasting licences for shared transmissions with other aspirant broadcasters on 97.3 MHz between 1999 and 2001. In 2001, the 97.3 frequency was auctioned to the Australian Radio Network to become what was then known as 97.3, The New FM.

In 2002, the Australian Broadcasting Authority granted BIRGI a high-powered AM community licence on 1197 kHz. The station, later known as Switch Brisbane, commenced test transmissions in late 2002 and began full-time broadcasting on 7 April 2003. By 2020, Boyd had become a key figure in the station's operations, taking over management and reverting it to the Switch branding.

Hot 100 FM and Hot 30

From 2002 to 2006, Boyd worked at Hot 100 FM in Darwin as an announcer, technician, and host of the station's Hot 30 countdown show. According to reports from the station and broadcast archives, the Hot 30 achieved strong ratings during this period. In August 2006, Boyd resigned from Hot 100 FM to pursue other broadcasting and production work.

Syndicated Hot 30 with Matty

After leaving Hot 100 FM, Boyd created Hot 30 with Matty, an independently produced syndicated countdown show. The program is produced weekly from Switch FM Maranoa in Roma, Queensland, and is distributed to over 100 community radio, narrowcast, and online stations across Australia and internationally.

The show features listener-voted countdowns of contemporary hits, with content tailored to each station's format. It is carried by stations including 2RDJ-FM in Sydney, Radio Springfield City, and numerous narrowcast and online outlets. In addition to the main Hot 30, Boyd also produces Hot 30 After Party, a related music program featuring remixes and dance tracks.

Switch FM Maranoa

Boyd is associated with Switch FM Maranoa, a narrowcast radio service serving communities in Queensland's Maranoa region including Roma, Mitchell, Injune, and surrounding areas.
