MadCap Software, Inc. is a privately held American software company headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The company develops software for technical documentation, component content management, and learning content management. Its flagship product, MadCap Flare, is an XML-based help authoring tool and single-source publishing platform used by technical writers and documentation teams.

MadCap Software was founded in 2005 by Anthony Olivier and Bjorn Backlund, former executives of eHelp Corporation, the original developer of RoboHelp. In January 2022, Battery Ventures made a majority-growth investment in the company, its first institutional funding round. [1]

MadCap subsequently expanded its product portfolio through two acquisitions: IXIASOFT, a provider of DITA-based enterprise content management software (February 2023), and Xyleme, Inc., a learning content management platform (January 2024). [2][3]

MadCap Software was founded in 2005 by Anthony Olivier and Bjorn Backlund. Olivier had previously served as CEO of eHelp Corporation, the developer of RoboHelp, a widely used help authoring tool.
