macOS 28 is the upcoming twenty-fourth major release of Apple's macOS operating system. It is the successor to macOS Golden Gate, and it will be announced in 2027.

Development

The development of macOS 28 was confirmed by Apple at WWDC 2025 during its Platforms State of the Union event, when it outlined the conclusion of the Mac transition to Apple silicon. Apple stated that it would remove most Rosetta 2 functionality in macOS 28.[1]
