Light is a Danish financial technology company that develops an artificial intelligence-based accounting and general ledger platform for multinational companies.[1][2]
Light was founded by Jonathan Sanders and Filip Kozjak in 2022. At launch, most of its customers were Nordic technology companies, including Worksome, Lenus, Famly, and Proxify.[3]
In June 2024, Light exited stealth with US$13 million (DKK 90 million) in seed funding led by Atomico, with participation from Cherry Ventures, Entrée Capital, Seedcamp, and angel investors including footballer Mario Götze.[4][5][6][7] As part of the round, Atomico partner Andreas Helbig joined Light's board of directors.[8] At launch, most of its customers were Nordic technology companies, including Worksome, Lenus, Famly, and Proxify.[9]
In September 2025, the company raised a US$30 million Series A round led by Balderton Capital, with participation from existing investors Atomico, Cherry Ventures, Seedcamp, and Entrée Capital, bringing its total funding to US$43 million.[10][11][12] The company opened an office in London in 2025 and said it would use the funding to expand in the United States, including opening a New York office.[13][14][15]
Light's platform is a general ledger system that uses machine learning models to automate bookkeeping tasks such as transaction coding and tax-code assignment, and allows finance teams to query financial data in natural language.[16] Unlike traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) suites, the product is limited to finance functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bookkeeping, and VAT reporting, and integrates with third-party CRM, HR, banking, and messaging tools.[17][18]
The company says the platform can process 280 million records in under a second and reduces the time finance teams spend on operations by about 84 percent.[19][20] Its platform integrates with financial infrastructure providers including JPMorgan Chase, Adyen, and BDO.[21]
