Liam Sorta (born December 1995) is a British entrepreneur, game developer, and technology community organizer.[1]
He is known for his involvement in hackathon communities, Alexa application development, and independent game development.[2]
Sorta was included in Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe (Sports & Games) in 2024.[1]
Early life and education
Sorta was born in Blackpool, England.
He attended Birmingham City University, where he became involved in hackathons and technology community events.[2]
According to Birmingham City University, Sorta organized community-focused hackathon events while studying at university and later became involved in the Amazon Alexa developer ecosystem.[2]
Career
HackTheMidlands
In 2016, Sorta co-founded HackTheMidlands, an independent hackathon event in the West Midlands, United Kingdom.[3]
The event focused on accessibility and beginner participation in software development communities.[2]
Alexa development and Magic Voice
While at university, Sorta began developing applications for Amazon Alexa and later founded the company Magic Voice.[2]
Amazon later selected him as an Alexa Champion.[4]
Voicebot.ai reported on Alexa-related projects associated with Sorta during the Amazon Alexa Games Skill Challenge in Europe.[5]
GameDevNetwork
In 2017, Sorta founded GameDevNetwork, an online game development community.[1]
The community hosts online game jams and collaborative events for developers.[6]
Acureus
In 2021, Sorta co-founded Acureus Ltd, a game development studio.[1]
The company's game Draw & Guess received coverage from gaming media following its release on Steam.[7]
