LandingAI is an American artificial intelligence software company founded in 2017 by computer scientist Andrew Ng. The company develops AI-powered SaaS products for computer vision and document processing.[1]

History

LandingAI was founded by Andrew Ng, founder of the Google Brain deep learning project and co-founder of Coursera, in 2017 to develop computer vision software for manufacturing.[2][3][4] At its launch, LandingAI announced a partnership with Foxconn to develop artificial intelligence applications for manufacturing.[3][5][6][7] The company's early work focused on computer vision for manufacturing before expanding into other computer vision applications.[8]

LandingAI opened an engineering office in Medellín, Colombia, in 2018.[1]

In 2019, the company introduced LandingLens, a computer vision platform.[8][9]

LandingAI raised $57 million in a Series A funding round led by McRock Capital in November 2021.[10][11][12][13][14]

In 2024, Andrew Ng stepped down as chief executive officer and became executive chairman.[15] Dan Maloney succeeded him as chief executive officer.[16]

By 2025, LandingAI had expanded beyond manufacturing into intelligent document processing.[8][17] That year, the company introduced Agentic Document Extraction (ADE) and later made the platform available through the Snowflake Marketplace.[17][18][19] ABB Robotics invested in LandingAI through ABB Robotics Ventures, and Pure Storage also announced an investment in the company.[20][21]

Products

LandingAI develops software for intelligent document processing and computer vision. Its products include Agentic Document Extraction (ADE), a document processing platform that extracts structured information from business documents using AI models.[22] The platform includes Document Pre-trained Transformer 2 (DPT-2), a foundation model used for document understanding and information extraction.[17][23][24]

The company also offers LandingLens, a platform for developing and deploying computer vision models, and LandingEdge, software for deploying computer vision models in production environments.[8][9][25]

Recognition

In 2026, Forbes included LandingAI in its annual list of America's Best Startup Employers.[26]
