  • Comment: The fundamental weakness here is that more than 20 of the best cited papers are large team efforts. Currently there is little evidence that the subject himself has made notable contributions. Ldm1954 (talk) 12:47, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

Jochen Weller (born 22 November 1969) is a German cosmologist and astrophysicist and a professor at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.[1] His research has focused on dark energy, large-scale structure, and cosmological analyses involving galaxy clusters.[2][3]

Career and education

Weller studied at the University of Karlsruhe from 1990 to 1996.[4] He received his PhD from Imperial College London in 2000 under Andreas Albrecht.[1]

From 2000 to 2002, he was a research associate in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge. From 2002 to 2004, he worked at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge, and held a Trapnell Fellowship at King's College, Cambridge.[5]

From 2004 to 2005, he was a David Schramm Fellow at Fermilab.[6] From 2005 to 2008, he was a lecturer at University College London.[7]

Since 2008, Weller has been professor at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.[1] He is an associate member of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics.[8] In 2026, he was elected a member of Academia Europaea.[9]

Research

Weller's research has included work on dark energy and on cosmological analyses using galaxy clusters and survey data, including work related to Planck and the Dark Energy Survey.[2][10]
