The Jacques Hadamard Program (Parcours Jacques Hadamard, M1 Jacques Hadamard) is a research-oriented Master’s program in mathematics at Université Paris-Saclay. It is part of the Mathématiques et Applications Master’s degree and is offered in collaboration with several institutions in the Paris academic area, in particular the École polytechnique, Université Paris-Saclay in Orsay, and ENS Paris-Saclay. The program is named after the French mathematician Jacques Hadamard.
The M1 Jacques Hadamard is designed to deepen students’ mathematical foundations and prepare them for more specialized M2-level courses. The curriculum consists almost exclusively of pure mathematics. Its applied mathematics counterpart is the M1 Mathématiques Appliquées.
Advanced courses are offered in areas such as differential geometry and differential topology, algebraic topology, symmetry groups in quantum field theory, Riemannian geometry, and many others.
The program is based on the Palaiseau campus of the École polytechnique. In addition, students may take selected courses at partner institutions of Université Paris-Saclay or at ENS Paris-Saclay.
The renowned mathematics track of the third year of the Cycle ingénieur polytechnicien at the École polytechnique corresponds to the M1 Jacques Hadamard program.
In addition to the lecture courses, the M1 program may also include an internship, depending on the institution chosen.
The Sophie Germain Excellence Scholarship is offered by the Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard to support Master’s and PhD students within its network, especially also the Jacques Hadamard Track.
