Hinge Health

Hinge Health, Inc. is an American digital health company headquartered in San Francisco, California.[1] It provides musculoskeletal, women's pelvic health, and migraine care through a platform combining digital exercise therapy, wearable devices, and clinical support.[2] The company sells primarily to self-insured employers and health plans, which offer the service as a covered benefit to employees and members.[3] Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol HNGE.[4]

History

Hinge Health was founded in 2014 by Daniel Perez and Gabriel Mecklenburg, who met while pursuing doctoral degrees in the United Kingdom; Perez at the University of Oxford and Mecklenburg at Imperial College London.[5] Both founders had personal experience with musculoskeletal injuries: Perez sustained bone fractures in a cycling accident, while Mecklenburg tore his ACL during a judo match.[6] Those experiences, and frustration with existing care pathways, shaped the company's direction.[7] The company initially operated in London, United Kingdom, prior to relocating to San Francisco, California, in 2017.[8]

Leadership

The company is led by co-founder and chief executive officer Daniel Perez, who attended a doctoral program in biochemistry at the University of Oxford. Co-founder Gabriel Mecklenburg serves as the executive chairman.[9]

Products and services

Hinge Health's core platform focuses on musculoskeletal conditions including joint and muscle pain and post-surgical rehabilitation.[10] The service combines digital exercise therapy with AI-powered motion-tracking technology, called TrueMotion, and support from a remote clinical team.[11]

The company markets an FDA-cleared wearable device called Enso, which uses non-invasive electrical nerve stimulation for pain relief.[12] An updated version, Enso 3, was released in 2024.[13] The device subsequently received FDA clearance for migraine treatment in 2026.[14]

In 2022, Hinge Health expanded its offerings to include women's pelvic floor care within its digital platform.[15] The program addresses issues including prolapse, bladder and bowel dysfunction, abdominal separation, and chronic pelvic pain.[16]

Hinge Health launched HingeSelect in 2025, a curated referral network connecting members to in-person physical therapy providers, imaging centers, and orthopedic surgeons for cases where in-person or surgical care is needed.[17]

In 2026, the company launched a migraine care program combining the Enso device, AI-assisted trigger tracking, and exercise therapy.[18]

Business model

The company sells to self-insured employers, health plans, pharmacy benefit managers and third-party administrators, which offer the platform to employees and members at no direct cost. Clients pay annual fees based on active member engagement.[19] As of the end of 2025, Hinge Health reported approximately 2,830 enterprise clients and 25 million contracted lives.[20]
