Félix Hernández Barrera, born in Ólvega, Province of Soria, on 12 December 1924, settled in Seville in 1963 and, together with his father, founded Arrocerías Herba in San Juan de Aznalfarache.[4] His brother Antonio also played an important role in the company, particularly in its international expansion.[5] Félix Hernández Barrera received the Encomienda de la Orden del Mérito Agrícola and the Gold Medal of the Seville Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation.[4]
In 1989, the company became part of the Ebro group.[5] In 2010 and 2011, Ebro Foods announced agreements with SOS Corporación Alimentaria for the purchase of its rice business and the SOS brand worldwide.[6][7]
