Genially, (formerly Genial.ly) is a Spanish-based collaborative online platform for creating interactive and visual content.[1] Operating under a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, the tool enables users to develop presentations, infographics, gamified content, and educational resources. It is designed as a no-code and graphic design solution, allowing for the creation of interactive communication assets without professional programming or design expertise.

Genially Genially was founded in Córdoba, Spain, in 2015 by Juan Rubio (CEO), Luis García (COO), and Chema Roldán (CTO). According to company data, the platform reached approximately 45 million users across more than 190 countries by 2025.

In 2018, the company was recognized in the Digital Business category of the Emprendedor XXI Awards, organized by CaixaBank.Furthermore, in 2025 and 2026, it was featured in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 program, which highlights the fifty most scalable technology companies in the region. [2]

Use

Genially is a cloud-based application accessed directly through web browsers. It features an online editor that allows for content creation and modification across devices with internet connectivity. The platform utilizes a drag-and-drop interface and provides a library of templates tailored for the education, corporate, and marketing sectors.[3]

The platform integrates artificial intelligence (AI) features designed to assist in the generation, adaptation, and optimization of content. Its user base includes educators and trainers, as well as professionals in corporate communications and digital marketing.

Educational use

In the educational sector, Genially is utilized across primary, secondary, and higher education levels to develop interactive materials, including presentations, infographics, quizzes, and gamified activities. The platform allows educators to deliver dynamic instructional content, while students can engage in collaborative project-based learning. [4]

The tool supports in-person, hybrid, and remote learning environments, facilitating the development of digital literacy and competencies. While the platform operates under a freemium model, its base features are frequently implemented for standard classroom applications.[5]

The platform integrates with productivity suites such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, and is compatible with various Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Learning Experience Platforms (LXP). To support learning analytics and interoperability, projects can be exported using industry standards such as SCORM and LTI 1.3, or embedded into external websites via iframe codes.[6]

Features

Genially's core functionality is centered on a no-code editor utilizing a drag-and-drop interface. This allows users to implement interactivity—such as clickable hotspots, pop-up windows, internal links, and hover effects—as well as basic animations without programming knowledge.

The platform's interactivity suite includes features for real-time engagement, such as polls, drag-and-drop elements, open or closed-ended questions, and audio voice-overs. In recent updates, Genially has integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that enable users to generate text, translate content, create images, and produce synthetic voice-overs through natural language prompts. Additionally, the software includes capabilities to convert external documents (such as PDF files) or web URLs into interactive presentations and quizzes.[7]

Regarding multimedia and collaboration, the tool supports the embedding of external videos, audio files, maps, and third-party forms. It also features a multi-user environment for synchronous collaboration, allowing several creators to edit the same project simultaneously.

For distribution, content can be shared via direct links, embedded into websites or Learning Management Systems (LMS), and exported in various formats, including HTML and SCORM. The platform also supports live presentation modes designed for audience participation, such as real-time interactive quizzes.[8]
