Gecko Robotics was founded in 2013 by Jake Loosararian.[1] As an engineering student at Grove City College in 2012, Loosararian built the first prototype of a wall climbing robot designed to inspect boilers at Scrubgrass Generating Plant, in Venango County, Pennsylvania.[1] The company participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2016 batch.[2]
In August 2018, Founders Fund led Gecko's $7 million Series A fundraise.[3] Mark Cuban, The Westly Group, Justin Kan, and Y Combinator also contributed to this round.[4]
In December 2019, Drive Capital led Gecko's $40 million Series B fundraise, with participation from Founders Fund, Next47, and Y Combinator.[5]
In March 2022, XN led Gecko's $73 million Series C fundraise, with participation from Founders Fund, XYZ, Drive Capital, Snowpoint Ventures, Joe Lonsdale, and Gokul Rajaram.[6] In December 2023, Gecko extended its Series C, raising an additional $100 million and expanding its board to include USIT and Founders Fund.[7]
In June 2025, Cox Enterprises led Gecko's $125 million Series D fundraise at a $1.25 billion valuation.
Gecko Robotics builds robotic systems capable of inspecting industrial assets, including pipes, boilers, and storage tanks for energy customers.
