Overview

FTP (formerly Forbes Tate Partners) is a lobbying and public affairs firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. The firm was founded in 2012 by former White House staffers Jeff Forbes and Dan Tate, Jr.[1] The firm has been named to the PRWeek Agency Elite Top 120 List for the last four years, a distinction that recognizes the most innovative PR and communications agencies.[2]

The firm’s practice areas include federal government relations, state government relations, strategic communications, media relations, coalition management, public affairs, paid media, web development, creative design, digital advocacy, state and local field campaigns, polling, research, and analytics.

The FTP team includes former congressional staff, administration officials, campaign veterans, communicators, digital strategists, researchers, corporate leaders, and policy experts who have spent their careers working at the intersection of policy, politics, and public affairs.[3]

History

In 2012, Jeff Forbes and Dan Tate Jr. – two White House staffers that served in the Clinton-Gore administration – launched Forbes Tate Partners.[4]

In 2018, former member of Congress Bob Dold (R-IL) joined the firm.[5]

In 2023, FTP acquired Engage, LLC, a digital media agency based in Washington, D.C.[6]

In April 2026, the firm announced its rebrand from Forbes Tate Partners to FTP and its first major leadership transition, with Managing Partner Robert Mathias stepping into the firm's top leadership role.[7]

Public Policy Holding Company

In 2022, FTP became part of Public Policy Holding Company (PPHC), connecting the firm to a broader international network of 13 public affairs, government relations, and strategic communications firms.[8]

FTP went public in 2021 as PPHC shares began trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.[9] In 2026, PPHC began trading on the Nasdaq Global Market.[10]
