Chambers began her career in film and television. She was a producer for the 2022 documentary Descendant, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.[2]

Chamber's debut novel, Swift River, was published by Simon & Schuster in June 2024. The novel was well received by critics; according to the book review aggregator website Book Marks, the novel received two "rave" reviews and three "positive" reviews.[3] In 2024, it won the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence and the Barnes & Noble Discover Prize,[4][5] and was longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize.[6][independent source needed] The following year, it was an honor book for the BCALA Literary Award for Fiction,[7] a finalist for the Zora Award for Fiction and the Libby Award for Debut Author of the Year,[8][9] nominated for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work – Debut Author,[10] and longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction.[11]
