Energy Tech Summit (also styled ETS) is an annual conference focused on energy and climate technology, investment, and policy. Organized by the Vilnius-based events company Futurae Events UAB together with the climate-tech venture capital firm Contrarian Ventures, the event was originally held in Warsaw, Poland, before relocating to Bilbao, Spain, where it has been held annually since 2024.[1][2] Organizers describe the 2027 edition, held April 7–8 in Bilbao, as the eighth annual instalment.[3] Independent press coverage has described the event as one of Europe's largest conferences on climate-tech innovation and financing, with organizers citing attendance of more than 1,500 people, over 100 speakers, and participants from more than 40 countries.[4][5]

History

An early edition of the event was held in Warsaw, Poland, in April 2023.[1] By 2024, the summit had relocated to Bilbao, in Spain's Basque Country, where it has since been held each spring at the Euskalduna Conference Centre.[5][6] The Spanish bank BBVA became the event's main sponsor starting with the 2024 edition, co-organizing side events alongside Contrarian Ventures.[5][7]

In 2026, organizers launched a regional spinoff, Energy Tech Summit Asia, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and supported by Malaysia's Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, which they describe as building on seven years of the event's history in Europe.[8]

Format

Energy Tech Summit runs over two to three days and combines keynote sessions, panel discussions, and startup pitch competitions with investor-focused networking events. Recurring elements include:

  • Main-stage and "Tech Talks" programming organized around thematic tracks such as green energy infrastructure, hydrogen, battery storage, electric mobility, carbon capture and emissions management, grid digitalization, and the application of artificial intelligence to energy.[3][6]
  • A startup pitch competition, branded "Energy Tech Challengers," in which early-stage companies pitch to a jury across several category tracks.[3]
  • Invitation-only side events — including "Growth Meets Capital," "Growth Meets Industry," and "Growth Meets Infrastructure" — co-hosted with BBVA, pairing growth-stage climate-tech founders with investors in closed-door meetings.[7][5]
