Dirk Adams (born 1951) is an American banker, rancher, and former political candidate in Montana. He previously held executive roles in the banking industry and was a candidate for the United States Senate in 2014.
Adams was born in Lynch, Nebraska.[1] He grew up in Texas and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.[2] He later received a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1976.[2]
After practicing law in New York City, Adams entered the banking industry.[3]
From 1987 to 2000, he worked for Golden West Financial Corporation and its subsidiary World Savings Bank in Oakland, California, serving as executive vice president.[3]
He later held senior positions at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and First Federal Bank of California.[3]
In 2004, Adams became chairman and chief executive officer of Home Savings Bancorp.[3] He served in that role until 2012. He later served as president of Guaranteed Home Mortgage Company.[4]
In 1984, Adams purchased a ranch in Wilsall, Montana, where he has operated cattle ranching operations.[3]
In 2014, Adams ran in the Democratic primary for the United States Senate seat vacated by Senator Max Baucus.[5] He was not nominated.
In 2016, he ran for the Montana House of Representatives in District 59.[6] He was defeated in the general election.
